Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting – UNICEF Study
Female Genital Mutilation, or cutting (FGM/C) was the subject of the largest report yet and was released last year by U.N. children’s agency UNICEF. The author of the report, Claudia Cappa visited with Maria to discuss what FGM/C is, the 29 countries that practice it and the more than 125 Million girls and women alive today that have undergone some form of the procedure. As many as 30 Million girls are at risk of being cut over the next decade if current trends persist.

GMO OMG!
Director, Writer, Editor Jeremy Seifert visits with Maria about his documentary, “GMO OMG” which explores the systematic corporate takeover and potential loss of humanity’s most precious and ancient inheritance: seeds. The film was released in NY, LA and Seattle.
The film follows one family’s struggle to live and eat without participating in an unhealthy, unjust, and destructive food system.

Tuesday, February 11th, 2014 – CJ By Cookie Johnson
CJ by Cookie Johnson celebrated her 5th anniversary of the launch of her jeans. Maria interviewed the creator at her anniversary party. Cookie’s husband, Magic Johnson surprised her with a cake and a visit, graciously posing for photos and signing autographs to support his wife’s milestone.
A portion of the proceeds of the sales goes to benefit the Magic Johnson Foundation’s HIV/AIDS Initiative. The foundation supports community programs that involve the awareness, education and prevention of the spread of HIV/AIDS.

100 Million sharks are killed every year through the barbaric process of shark finning. That is the slicing off of a shark’s fins and throwing the live shark back into the ocean in order to supply the demand for shark fin soup.
Please join Maria as she visits with Dr. Geoff Shester, California Program Director of Oceana as he explains how this is affecting the ecosystem of our oceans.
