Today, Tuesday, July 8th, members of the California Latino Legislative Caucus toured Naval Base Ventura County, where undocumented, unaccompanied children are being held.  They visited to see the facility and the conditions that the children are experiencing while being detained.
They held a conference call shortly thereafter. On this call were Senate President pro Tem-elect, Kevin de Leon; Senator Richardo Lara, Caucus Chair; Senator Norma Torres; Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins: Assembly Member Luis Alejo, Vice Chair; Assembly Member Lorena Gonzales; State Senator Lou Correa; State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson.

Here’s hoping that you were able to enjoy our holiday with family and friends and to honor and celebrate our country’s birth.  I was fortunate that my three sons were able to join me for most of the holiday weekend and we had a ball!  I feel so fortunate that my 20-something children are in the area and make themselves available for us to be together as a family.
